What is the Enhanced Capital Allowance scheme?
The Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA) scheme was introduced by the UK government to encourage businesses to invest in energy efficient products. At its core, it let a business claim the full tax allowance for energy efficient equipment in the first year after purchase, rather than spreading the allowance over several years. This could also include the cost of installation.
Which products qualified?
The Carbon Trust drew up the Energy Technology List, which details over 6,000 products that meet the UK government's efficiency criteria.
Who could claim the allowances?
Any business that paid Income Tax or Corporation Tax could claim the enhanced allowances against products on the Energy Technology List. They applied to outright purchase and lease purchase by the end user, and could be claimed against the cost of the product and the costs directly associated with providing it.
Which Mitsubishi products qualified?
Three categories of Mitsubishi product qualified: variable speed drives (cooling only VRF systems), air to air energy recovery (Lossnay ventilation systems) and heat pumps.
